Comfortable shoes, a water bottle, your park tickets…there are plenty of essentials for a day at Universal Orlando Resort. For coffee enthusiasts like me, one must-have is Espresso! Or at least some kind of caffeinated treat.
Whether it's a pre-coaster boost or a midday pick-me-up, I can find nearly any excuse to enjoy a fun beverage. Luckily, between Universal Studios Florida and Universal Islands of Adventure, there are plenty of options! (There are also many coffee choices at the hotels if you're staying on-site — but this is for those who need a caffeine jolt during their theme park day.) Read on for some of my favorite ways to caffeinate around Universal Orlando.
Universal Studios Florida
Coffee from Lard Lad Donuts
Let's begin with a classic: a steaming cup of Joe from Lard Lad Donuts in Springfield, U.S.A. This renowned location is famous for its donuts, featuring The Big Pink — truly living up to its name — and the brilliant invention known as the Brain Freezin’ D’oh-Nut Sundae. If you’re seeking a caffeine boost, you can also enjoy a hot coffee here! Alternatively, embrace your inner Chief Wiggum and indulge in a coffee and donut for dunking.
Cappuccino from Lombard’s Seafood Grille
Ah, the cappuccino: a blend of espresso, hot milk, and foam harmoniously combined to create the ideal caffeinated beverage for any time of the day. I must confess that my expectations for cappuccinos are quite high, and I can genuinely say that Lombard’s Seafood Grille serves one of the finest cappuccinos I've ever tasted. In addition to the charming mug, the highlight of this drink is the rock crystal sugar stir stick, which imparts a touch of extra sweetness.
Cable Car Coffee from San Fran Snacks
What’s better than iced coffee? Obviously, iced coffee with boba! Cable Car Coffee, found at the San Fran Snacks cart fittingly located in San Francisco, is a sweet iced delight featuring brown sugar boba pearls. A word of caution: it's quite sweet, so if you're one of those strong individuals who prefer their coffee black, this might not be for you. However, I do not drink my coffee black, so this is my go-to way to energize before catching the next Beat Builders performance!
Universal Islands of Adventure
S’mores Latte from Croissant Moon Bakery
This is truly a hidden gem — you're welcome! At Croissant Moon Bakery, you can enjoy this delightful mix of espresso, milk, toasted marshmallow syrup, marshmallow and chocolate sauce, and graham cracker crumbs. And yes, it tastes as amazing as it appears in the photo!
PRO TIP: Grab a seat outside and sip on your latte as you people-watch and listen to the sounds of Port of Entry, one of my favorite areas in Islands of Adventure.
Cinnamon Roll Cold Brew from Cinnabon
A caffeine guide wouldn't be complete without visiting Cinnabon! My favorite drink here is the Cinnamon Roll Cold Brew, which truly tastes like a cinnamon roll. Combine it with some BonBites, and you'll be full of energy — the ideal mindset for riding coasters, in my eyes.
Espresso Shake from Mythos
Mythos Restaurant is famous for its award-winning dishes, but did you know they also serve a fantastic espresso milkshake? Topped with a cherry, it's an ideal sweet indulgence while you explore the shops and attractions of The Lost Continent. This beverage is lighter than a typical milkshake, offering more of a frozen coffee experience. No notes!
Sneelocks Pink Lemonade from Circus McGurkus Cafe Stoo-pendus
This message is for those who either can't or choose not to consume caffeine. The Sneelocks Pink Lemonade at Circus McGurkus Cafe Stoo-pendus blends strawberry lemonade with a cold foam topping and a playful red star design on top, offering a sweetness that matches its description. Most importantly, it provides just enough sugar to give you a boost without leading to a mid-afternoon crash.
Universal CityWalk
Coffee (and a doughnut!) from Voodoo Doughnut
Few things pair as perfectly as a doughnut and coffee, and Voodoo Doughnut proves this point beautifully. My typical approach here is to place a mobile order while heading to Universal CityWalk for ultimate convenience, allowing me to pick up my coffee (and usually a Little Pink doughnut as well) on my way into Universal Studios Florida. If you're in the mood for a flavor, you can select from vanilla, caramel, or hazelnut. (I'm partial to vanilla, but there’s no wrong choice for caffeine!)
Espresso Buzzzz from The Toothsome Chocolate Emporium & Savory Feast Kitchen
Drum roll, please! Located at The Toothsome Chocolate Emporium & Savory Feast Kitchen, The Espresso Buzzzz is the ultimate espresso milkshake. It features coffee ice cream, espresso, chocolate espresso beans, biscotti, whipped topping, and — of course — a maraschino cherry on top. I suggest dipping the biscotti in the whipped topping before diving into the shake itself. Before you know it, you’ll be buzzzzzing your way into the parks!
